Magic Show Vegas

Early in life I learned maybe the most important lesson of all: NEVER TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER! With my store opening on the horizon my husband and I traveled to the Magic Apparel show to purchase product for our emerging business. I was excited! So excited I didn’t sleep the night before we flew, and once on the flight all I wanted was to be able to push the plane by the rear like superwoman to speed up the flight time.  I chose my outfits, I had a business plan, I had ideas, and I had a goal.  Time went fast after we landed, I was trust into first day of endless seminars in which I was told my vision was too extreme, unrealistic, and not accomplishable. I knew they were wrong. I knew they underestimated how many women there are out there in the world that embrace adventurous style, and edgy couture. It seems big companies see us women, as sheep all prone to follow the same old herd.  I picked myself up, dusted off the negativity and prepared to meet with designers. Some doors with designers were slammed in my face before I got to the threshold. “You are a new store? We don’t sell to new stores.” I was determined. I would follow my vision right into the flames of fire, if I had to. I knew what I wanted and I pushed back. Never underestimate yourself and the power that you hold because when you show someone the “fierce” in your face you can break through any closed door.  As a new store I got the most coveted designers and the most exclusive lines.  I can’t wait to share my hard work with all the ladies of Philadelphia when the store opens February 2012! Come see all the things you can accomplish through being a stubborn, determined female!

First Blog post :)

I would like to dedicate this first blog and all after to my husband Stephen Robert Mitchell. There are people that come into your life that make you realize your own strength and drive you to be a better version of yourself. My husband showed me I can be more powerful than I ever knew I could be , he is the driving force behind everything I do, and the reason I could accomplish this venture and execute my dream. I love you Pooks you are the reason I am  happy everyday!

There are many characteristics that make up an individual’s personality. I am a party girl, a procrastinator, a dreamer, an artist, an overachiever, and a slave to fashion, organizationally impaired, musically ungifted, blissfully unaware and passionately driven. These are just some components that make up my personality. I found that most people are made more beautiful not by their achievements but their imperfections and visible creativity.  This in large part is why I love fashion and art. I think that through an individual’s look you can determine what is buried deep beneath the surface. A ripped fish net stocking for example says edgy, artistic, confident, and perhaps unorganized. These little details to me are what make an outfit, and a person.  Fashion is why I wake up in the morning, and at night I dream not of sweet plums and cherubs but of new designers, runway collections and SHOES!!!! When I look at style as a whole I see it in pieces of colorful glass that make up an image, like looking though a Kaleidoscope.  I started this company with a specific female in mind: an adventurous female traveling through the jungle of life armed with her sense of style.  I love when a woman that takes a risk; I love to see wearable art. There are many fashion forward, risk-taking  fashionistas in Philadelphia, and very few outlets for their fashion creativity. I wanted to create a sanctuary for the Philadelphia female, a hide away from their daily life.  Kaleidoscope Boutique is about jewelry, clothes shoes, and life because you need to express yourself when you leave the house in the morning, because you can’t face the world naked and unprotected! This blog is my outlet and I hope Kaleidoscope Boutique can be yours.
